Mazda5 sliding door not closing.
Upon inspecting the rollers the one roller had a flat side indicating that it had seized.
To lock a sliding door with the door lock knob from the outside slide the door lock knob toward the front to the lock position and close the door pulling the door handle is not required.
Opened the rear passenger door on my mazda 5 it is a sliding door.
Give the screw a clockwise turn and test to see whether the door slides easier.
I had a similar problem on my passenger side sliding door on my mazda 5 and just tonight while far away from home on holidays the door popped out of the track that holds the rear of the door scratching and denting my rear quarter panel.
If still no luck you will have to replace the latch.

To lock a sliding door from the inside slide the door lock knob toward the front.
When you use a small screwdriver to manually close the latch it should stay closed.

If the door becomes even harder to open turn the screw in the opposite direction.
Make sure the inside door handle is not sticking.

To unlock slide it toward the back.
Try and open and close it form inside the van.
The sliding door will not close in cold weather when the rear locking mechanism freezes or binds.
After a bit of adjustment the door should roll easily without rubbing on the bottom track.
